NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
