No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?


Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
