NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?


Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
