Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
