Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
