I have been betting poker now for about five years, I’ve played cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various styles of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head casino game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were betting and although I liked to call it skill, it was extremely difficult to justify considering the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was pleased to accept I was having a protracted run of good fortune.
Then came Poker, or far more importantly Holdem Poker, made popular by a bunch of Texas card gamblers in the 1960’s and since developed into one of the biggest card phenomena ever experienced. Poker is absolutely the new black, it can be super cool with a lot of of the world’s top superstars racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick scan through the TV channels these days and you are able to not escape from poker, and of course there is the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for every single player.
So with all of this new found recognition, with so many Tv programmes dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are people going to learn that this game is all about position!?
