Annie Duke may not have earned her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she remains one of the most feared poker competitors around the cash games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with success at the "cast aside game" of Omaha hi-low.
While competitors from the "younger crowd" of poker go wild after a big win at the tables, Annie goes back home and becomes "mom" to her four kids. Annie was born in New Hampshire into a family of poker competitors. If you do not believe that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who educated her how to participate in the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has succeeded at her cut of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard along the way on several occasions. They’re both players that have the ability to acquire the big money and do so with a smile.
Annie Duke is a tough player at any poker table because she is a natural poker player, but it is a little more than just being skilled at the game. Annie Duke is extremely intelligent and graduated from Columbia University where she majored in English and Psychology.
When you take a seat across from her at the poker table you know Annie is there to compete in the game and she starts "sizing" you up from the time you approach the table. If you can not gamble like a winner, then do not bother.
Earning over 3 million dollars in tournament competitions, Annie Duke became a adviser to both the UltimateBet website and actor Ben Affleck, who wished to hone his skills and become a force at the tables.
You might just catch a glimpse of her at the Bellagio, you will see Annie on TV and you may even play against her in a net poker match, but don’t anticipate a simple win. Except of course you’re a champion-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. However, it would be exciting to say you sat at the at the table with "The Duke".
